This past Saturday started out like most of my days off the road do by taking care of my horses, "Santino" (Sonny C) and Russian/Arab mix "Czar" pictured below. This is something that gives me great joy and peace of mind.

![]() Saturday October 1, is the first of two days of the annual North Hollywood Vintage & Classic Drum Show which I try to attend each year when I'm in town. This is always a lot of fun for me because I get to hear a lot of drummers beat on drums nonstop the whole day, and this year was no exception. But more so because the following day is my best friend and Ludwig Artist relations representative Todd Trent's birthday. Besides having the privilege of giving Todd his birthday gift, I also gave him a QUIET RIOT tour drum head which I used on the Rock Never Stops Tour this summer. Todd is the best! I also got to chat with jazz drumming great Ed Shaughnesy who makes me laugh effortlessly. |
And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Todd invited me to attend the Robert Plant show at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night. To say that this was a thrill would be an understatement! Robert Plant and the music that he created alongside Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and the late great John Bonham have had such a positive influence in my musical life which is indescribable. Robert Plant sounded great and was an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to briefly speak with and was kind enough to let me have my picture taken with him. His band The Strange Sensation were wonderful to hear and watch and I thank them all for their kindness.
