QUESTIONS ABOUT QUIET RIOT 2008

I have been approached to see if I would be interested in contacting Rudy Sarzo and Carlos Cavazo and to audition singers for QUIET RIOT.

I have also been approached to see if I would be interested in contacting and re-forming the version of QUIET RIOT that included Paul Shortino, Carlos Cavazo and Sean McNabb.

Let me make this very simple and perfectly clear. While I am still actively involved in the business interests of QUIET RIOT and will continue in that capacity, I reject any and all suggestions to have QUIET RIOT continue as a live performing entity.

My friendship, love and respect for Kevin DuBrow as well as my personal love and affection for Kevin's mother and his family makes it inconceivable for me to ever entertain any ovation to reform or to continue QUIET RIOT. Kevin was too important to go on without him. It would also be a disrespect to the fans who have supported QUIET RIOT for nearly 25 years.

I thank everyone for the wonderful and sometimes unpredictable adventure that I was able to share as a member of QUIET RIOT. The only regret that I have is the loss of Kevin. May he rest in peace.

I now begin life after QUIET RIOT.

I had the opportunity to visit my friend and Artists Relations Manager Christian Stankee at the Sabian west coast offices recently. While there to choose some specialty cymbals for specific applications Chris let me try out their "APX" cymbal line. In a word, FANTASTIC! These are the best sounding Sabian cymbals that I have heard in my 25 year association with the Sabian family. I was able to play a 22" ride and several 20" crash cymbals and I was really amazed. The ride cymbal has a wonderful clear and distinct stick sound which is complemented by a wonderful filling sustain that I love. The crash cymbals had an incredible sharp attack and clear sustain. I look forward to the future when I am able to obtain the newly added 24" APX Ride and the 15" APX Hi-Hats and would round out the set with both 18" and 20" APX Crash cymbals. Do yourself a favor, Check out the Sabian APX cymbals line!

Sad News: Singer/Guitarist Billy Thorpe passed away in his homeland of Australia on February 28. Billy was a great person, very talented and I was fortunate enough to have recorded with him in 1982 for his "East Of Eden's Gate" record as well as having participated for a short while on part of his tour for that release. God bless you Billy and may you rest in peace.

Due to an oversight on my part, Paul Muniz and DigiTech were omitted from the "Thank You" section of the QUIET RIOT "Rehab" CD credits. This is unfortunate as Paul is both a friend and we used a great deal of the wonderful effects and processors that were made available to us by DigiTech for these recordings.

With apologies,

QUIET RIOT UPDATE:

I am happy to report that I have completed the drum and percussion tracks for the new QUIET RIOT studio CD. Next we will commence recording the rhythm and lead guitars courtesy of Neil Citron. Neil, who is one of my closest friends and a truly amazing guitarist, has been playing some really wonderful parts for the new QUIET RIOT songs which are the most varied we have written to date. The guitars will be followed by the bass tracks. I am thrilled to report that another very dear friend Tony Franklin will be playing bass on the new CD. I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful bass players in my career, but none better than Tony. He is the bass players "bass player" and a pleasure to play with. Very soon we will be ready for Mr. Kevin DuBrow to record the vocals.
Kevin has come up with some truly inspiring vocals on this one, and as a bonus we will have Glenn Hughes on a vocal duet with Kevin on a special song with Glenn also contributing his unique bass playing to that one track as well. This will be the first track since the 1982 "Hughes/Thrall" release that Glenn and I are the recorded rhythm section. I hope that those who are fans of QUIET RIOT will be both pleased and surprised with the new CD. Everyone else, like it or not can make up their own minds. At the moment, it's all good with QUIET RIOT!

Best,

FROM A RECENT INTERVIEW BY "SOD" DRUMMER John Dolmayan:

"I learned the second mistake by not making it. Bands would live way outside their means and squander whatever they made. Quiet Riot made $20,000,000 apiece, and now they're playing 500-seat venue shows to survive. That's sad to me. Surround yourself with the people that you grew up with that you trust. I maintain my relationships with the people I knew before SOAD became the juggernaut that it is."

AN OPEN LETTER TO JOHN DOLMAYAN:

Dear John,

Fascinating interview. While I think you are a excellent drummer in a wonderfully popular band, know about what you speak of before doing so.

I personally never made $20,000,000 dollars as you wrote. Not even close, not even a clean million. And we did indeed as a band spent and wasted monies on tours, production, recording, videos, etc., like any other band does. We also signed a terrible record deal, but I accept that. And while I was comfortable and enjoyed the initial success that QUIET RIOT afforded me in much more humble ways than you imagine, I did not squander my money as you claim, but instead took care of my ailing mother who eventually succumbed to cancer which she suffered from 1982 which predates my success with QUIET RIOT until her death in 1990. So that you may be enlightened, I too keep my relationship with family, and with friends that I knew before the not so juggernaut that is QUIET RIOT. I even keep in touch on a regular basis with all the members in my first garage band when we were still teens. I may not have the popularity, success, or prestige that you now have with "SOD" but I certainly have values. As to playing 500 seater clubs, sometimes less, sometimes more, and I appreciate every single person that comes to see us. I wish you well and enjoy the success your fans currently afford you while you have it. I'll leave you with a favorite George Harrison song title: "All Things Must Pass...."

QUIET RIOT NEWS UPDATE:

To end the somewhat ongoing speculation on the QUIET RIOT 2006 lineup, for those who are interested, here is the latest news that I can offer:

Session guitarist and personal friend Neil Citron will be recording with us on our next studio release. We have also enlisted our friend and guitarist Billy Morris to perform with us on selected live dates in the same capacity as he has done in the past.

Studio Update

Source=http://www.bravewords.com/news/32902

QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali has sent BW&BK the following studio update:

"I can't say what the style of the songs that Kevin (Dubrow - vocals) and GLENN HUGHES (ex-BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE - bass/vocals) will be working on will be like. Glenn is immensely talented, so whatever he and Kevin come up with I will like. I know that Glenn will be witting the lyrics for a song that I wrote with guitarist Neil Citron. The additional songs that Neil and I wrote are very much influenced by British 70's rock music which I love. Three of these songs are already earmarked to be included on the record. I also have another eight songs that will be completed and submitted for consideration to the band. Kevin and Alex (Grossi - guitar) have also been busy witting songs as well which they have been doing all along, and Kevin and Bill Leverty (FIREHOUSE guitarist) started working on a song while we were on the Rock Never Stops tour this summer and they continue working on that song as well.

The bottom line is that we are not making a new record with expectations of radio play or mass appeal because the music industry is so different now than it was twenty years ago and we are certainly not part of the current taste in music. The detractors of the band, the usual suspects, will knock it no matter what we do. Knowing this, we are going to make a record that we like. If anyone else likes it, it's a gift. Those who don't like it really make no difference."

It has come to my attention that a Internet sales company called Drum Central has taken the image of myself with my 1969 green sparkle Ludwig drum set and has partially airbrushed me as well as my personal logo form the image and placed the altered image on their site. This is not only dishonest, but also illegal as all content including images at frankie-banali.com are copyrighted content. I have notified my legal representatives of this matter. It makes one wonder how reliable the business practices of Drum Central can be in light of this behavior.
